DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a standard identifier for digital objects located on the Internet. It is assigned to a specific publication, such as an article in an online magazine.
It serves primarily to redirect to the URL. While the URL changes with the move to another server, the DOI remains the same. The Handle System is used to detect the current location of digital objects. In addition to the DOI and the URL, the metadata (description) of the digital object is also stored in the index.
The DOI resolver is used to find a DOI.
The University Library assigns every DOI within the Technical University of Liberec.
