Author identifiers

Author IDs offer the ability to instantly distinguish the identity of multiple authors with the same name. They facilitate the search and identification of publications, give authors immediate access to their publishing activities and are an indispensable tool in the evaluation of science and research.

ORCID (Open Research and Contributor ID) is a unique permanent identifier of individual authors.

The ORCID Registry is free and provides individuals with the ability to obtain an ORCID ID, manage their profile, and search for other scientists.

ResearcherID (RID) is a unique author identifier that is associated with the Publons platform (formerly Web of Science ResearcherID). Publons is a new environment that offers users an improved version of Web of Science ResearcherID. A great benefit for authors in using this tool is the flawless identification of the author and the refinement of the entire system of interconnection of authors and publications.

ScopusID is a unique author identifier that is linked to the Scopus citation database. It can be connected to ORCID.
